Rich in colour and quietly dramatic, the Zygopetalum Orchid is known for its striking contrast of emerald-green petals and deep violet markings. Zygopetalum Orchid Care & Maintenance

Zygopetalum orchids are known for their richly coloured, fragrant flowers and lush foliage. They prefer cooler conditions and consistent care.

Follow these simple tips to keep your orchid healthy and blooming:

☀️ Light

Place in bright, indirect light. Avoid strong direct sunlight.

💧 Water

Water the potting mix regularly to keep it evenly moist, but avoid overwatering to prevent waterlogging. Do not allow it to dry out completely.

🌡️ Temperature

Prefers cool to intermediate temperatures: 12–24°C. Cooler nights help promote flowering.

💦 Humidity

Enjoys moderate to high humidity with good air circulation.

🌱 Potting Mix

Use a free-draining orchid bark mix, not regular soil.

🌿 Fertilizer

Feed with orchid fertiliser every 2–3 weeks during active growth.

✂️ Pruning

After flowering, remove spent flower spikes and trim away any dead or damaged growth.

🪴 Repotting

Repot every 1–2 years, ideally after flowering or when the potting mix begins to break down.
