The Zygopetalum 'Blue Blazes' is a spectacular orchid admired for its richly coloured blooms in deep shades of purple, burgundy and green, complemented by a striking violet-blue lip. Renowned for its wonderfully sweet, hyacinth-like fragrance, this elegant orchid offers a feast for both the eyes and the senses. Unlike many orchids, Zygopetalums prefer bright, indirect light and like to remain slightly moist rather than drying out completely. Water when the top of the growing medium begins to dry, ensuring excess water drains away freely. They thrive in cooler to intermediate indoor temperatures with good air circulation and appreciate moderate humidity. Feed every two to four weeks during active growth with an orchid fertiliser to encourage healthy foliage and spectacular repeat flowering.
